Volcano Village

My, it's lovely here!

I woke up this morning to all the sounds I usually wake up to: birds, crickets, and other sounds I could never even identify. Every morning it's the same, unless it's raining. If it's raining, I'll hear the rain AND the birds AND the crickets.
Right out my window I can see the ridiculously tall Hapu'u ferns and carpets of glittering ginger everywhere, and whenever light is filtering through the trees I am automatically happy.

Today my dear friend and I are heading down into Hilo, so that she can pick up her school shedule. Her school starts quite soon (haha) whilst I still have another month to (hopefully) squeeze in some road trips!

Now, I should probably leave and conclude my second post here with this message:
If someone ever wakes you up by listening to Pearl Jam on YouTube, slaughter them.

The Beginning

Whew, here we go!

To start, I would like to inform everyone that I am sitting in my summer home listening to the mingled sounds of the rain and of the amazing soundtrack to Pan's Labyrinth, a movie that I only watched yesterday. Crazy.
I have absolutely never done a blog before, and this is a sort of leap of faith for me, but as I think every new thing should be embraced fully, I am ready to give this a try! Will people read it? Will I care if they don't? Will my life will be interesting enough to fill the void of internet?
To all of those: Hopefully. It's somewhat unlikely. For me, it will.
In other words, I have no idea, but we'll see!

Now, seeing as my "About Me" section is really rather vague, I would like to share some more information. I love to travel. That is what this blog will be about, I assure you. I have self-proclaimed "wanderlust." Not to hop in a plane to a foreign country, or to take a train. I need to drive. I need to listen to my indie and folk music and take detours through every National Park in the United States (This is one of my life goals.)
Speaking of goals, I have few. Leading a full and happy life and the one I have just mentioned are the only ones that come to mind.
I live in the "bubble" as I call it, also known as Palo Alto, California. Really, it is not too terrible. I tend to make a big deal out of it. But hey, I'm fifteen, what else can I do?
I have two homes, the one in Palo Alto, and one here in Volcano Village, Hawaii. I much prefer the one here, but to the surprise of most who know me, I have no intention of ever living here full time. My sights are set elsewhere: Flagstaff in Arizona, Leavenworth in Washington, or somewhere in Wyoming. My opinions might change, though!
Really, I am an extremely optimistic person, much to the woe of some of my more cynical (but loveable) friends. Without a doubt, it will get annoying to people to read this. but frankly, life is AWESOME. It's so short, and if you live it to the fullest, and wake up to watch the sunrise every morning annd stay up until the moon rises every evening, so worth living.

Considering I try not to write more than 250 words about myself at any given time, and I have just written 282, I must take my leave (until tomorrow) with this parting message:

Listen to the rain, dance naked around cattle skulls, and appreciate Robert Redford.
For these are all things I have done today.
